OUR TOP 5 PICKS
#1 Aero Cosmetics Wet or Waterless Car Wash Wax
Specifications
Item Weight | 10.6 pounds |
Product Dimensions | 9 x 5 x 11 inches |
Features
For the most part, the best RV waxes are those that can clean and protect your rig simultaneously. That’s why we like products like Aero Cosmetics.
Yes, if you buy a separate wax material, you’ll get a longer-lasting coat, but then you have to put more hard work and sweat into the cleaning process. Only hardcore RVers need to go all out with their waxing techniques.
Wet or Waterless Application
Typically speaking, you will need to clean your RV with water. However, the Aero Cosmetics Wash Wax enables you to protect your rig on the road, no matter where you are.
Sometimes, you may be parked in a water-restricted area, or you might not have access to a hose. In those situations, this product will still work wonders for your mobile home.
One Gallon and 16-Ounce Sprayer Combo
One of the best features we appreciate about this product is that it’s technically self-sufficient. While we recommend spraying your RV down with a hose first, you can simply use this wax straight out of the box.
This combo pack comes with a spray bottle, as well as three chamois towels. Spray the surface and wipe it clean - no additional steps necessary.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
Overall, the speed and simplicity that comes from the Aero Cosmetics Wash Wax make it a smart buy for all RVers. I highly recommend it for those who drive long-distance (or full-time), since you can keep your rig clean while out on the road.
I also appreciate that this product comes with all of the tools necessary to get started. This way, you don’t have to provide any extra accessories to get the job done. That being said, an extension mop and buffer will ensure a better cleaning and wax coating, so keep that in mind.

#2 Gel Gloss RV Wash and Wax
Specifications
Item Weight | 4 pounds |
Product Dimensions | 8.9 x 7.8 x 4.2 inches |
Features
Unless you’re really serious about cleaning and waxing your RV, you will appreciate the speed and efficiency of wash and wax formulas like this one from TR Industries.
Compared to other products like it, the Gel Gloss Wash and Wax is one of the better options, containing real carnauba wax. As any waxing aficionado will tell you, carnauba is the gold standard, making this product one of the top-rated in its class.
Infused With Carnauba Wax
If you were to talk to any car lovers, they would tell you that waxing with carnauba is the best of the best. Although there are some other wax options out there, carnauba is the most versatile and long-lasting (without getting into obscene prices).
Although you do have to mix this wash and wax formula with water, the wax will still help protect your RV better than most other two-in-one products on the market.
Streak and Spot-Free Formula
Another issue that RVers can run into when cleaning and waxing is that they don’t want to spend all day doing it. Unfortunately, with cheaper versions, rushing through the job can leave spots and streaks, making your rig look worse than before.
Fortunately, Gel Gloss has you covered, thanks to its streak-free design. Coupled with the carnauba wax formula, you can spend less time cleaning your RV, which will make you want to do it more regularly. When waxing is too much of a chore, it’s easy to let it go for longer than you should.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
As with all wash and wax products, Gel Gloss makes your life so much easier. We don’t really like to spend half a day (or all day) cleaning and waxing our mobile homes, and we’re sure that most of you don’t either.
Thankfully, this formula allows you to take a less diligent approach without sacrificing quality. Simply mix, spray, and wipe down to get decent protection and a glossy finish.

#3 Meguiar’s M5032 RV One Step Cleaner Wax
Specifications
Item Weight | 2 pounds |
Product Dimensions | 2.1 x 4.5 x 9 inches |
Features
Wash and wax formulas are perfect for RVers who want to clean on the road (or don’t like cleaning and waxing separately). However, those products don’t last as long, and they don’t provide as much protection.
If you want to keep your RV in better condition, then a cleaner wax like this one from Meguiar’s is the perfect solution. You do have to wash and wax in two separate passes, but you can go longer between applications, so you’ll wind up saving more time in the long run.
Waxes and Polishes
The primary reason why you should be waxing your RV is to protect it from the elements. Most of your mobile home’s exterior is made with fiberglass, which can become brittle over time when exposed to the sun.
That being said, waxing your RV regularly can be a pain, especially if you don’t use it all the time. Fortunately, if the surface has some light scratches or fading, this formula both polishes (restores) and waxes (protects).
Marine-Grade Wax
As you can imagine, boats that travel on seawater have to contend with a lot more wear and tear. Saltwater is one of the most corrosive materials for boats and RVs, which is why this wax is designed to protect against it.
Compared to other RV waxes, this version will stand up to most of the elements you’ll encounter on the road. If it can take on the ocean, your next vacation won’t make a dent in it.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
Because this product is strictly for waxing (not washing), you get better protection overall. Also, I like the fact that it’s designed for marine use, which means that it will last longer than other varieties.
Finally, I appreciate that it can restore light damage to your RV’s surface, making it even more versatile.

#4 Chemical Guys CWS_301 Citrus Wash and Gloss
Specifications
Item Weight | 1.1 pounds |
Product Dimensions | 3.9 x 2.4 x 15.8 inches |
Features
Technically speaking, this next wash and wax product doesn’t come with any wax. Instead, it utilizes a sophisticated citrus formula to ensure that you get the best clean and a brilliant shine.
Also, because it’s super concentrated, one gallon of this stuff will last a long longer than most of the other brands we’ve seen so far.
Concentrated Citrus Blend
When picking out a wash and wax product, it’s tough to find one that does both jobs equally well. So far, we’ve mostly seen formulas that focus on the waxing and less on the cleaning.
However, if you want a product that will give your RV a deep clean while restoring its natural beauty and shine, you’ll love this blend. A highly concentrated citrus formula works out tough dirt so that your mobile home will become spotless in no time.
Easy-Rinse Formula
Typically speaking, you need to scrub the dirtiest surfaces with other wash and wax products to ensure that everything comes off. Fortunately, this formula does the trick for you, so all you have to do is spray your motorhome for a brilliant shine.
That being said, make sure to wipe it down with a towel to dry the surface to avoid streaks or water spots.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
When it comes to cleaning your RV, this is one of the best options available. I appreciate how powerful it is, all without requiring harsh chemicals or treatments. This product is eco-friendly and biodegradable, making it a versatile solution for your mobile home.

#5 Camco 40493 Rv Wash & Wax 32 Oz, 32. Fluid_Ounces
Specifications
Item Weight | 2 pounds |
Product Dimensions | 10 x 6 x 11 inches |
Features
Our final wash and wax product is a perfect blend of cleaning and waxing power. It helps protect your RV by coating it in 100 percent carnauba wax, which also forms a water-resistant barrier.
Overall, this product is super easy to use and will save you time and energy when cleaning and waxing your motorhome.
100 Percent Carnauba Wax
We’ve already touted the benefits of using carnauba wax to protect your mobile home, so you can rest easy knowing that Camco has you covered. This wax will not only keep harmful UV rays from damaging your fiberglass, but it also forms a thin, water-resistant barrier along the surface.
No Buffing Required
One of the best ways to ensure that the wax bonds well with the fiberglass is to buff it. We always recommend waxing your RV with a power buffer, lest you want your hands and wrists to be extremely sore afterward.
That being said, if you don’t feel like buffing, you don’t have to with this formula. Just be sure to dry it off thoroughly after washing so that you don’t leave any streaks or spots on the finish.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
When it comes to simplicity, this product is one of the easiest to apply to your RV. Also, I like that it’s infused with 100 percent carnauba wax, making it even more desirable for both casual and hardcore RVers.

BUYER'S GUIDE
How often do you wash & wax RV?
The best answer to that question lies in the kind of wax you use. The versions that we listed are all wash and wax combos, which are easier to apply but don’t last as long. In most cases, you will want to wash and wax your motorhome every three to four months.
Another thing to consider is if your RV stays covered for most or part of the year. If you drive on the road full-time, you need to be religious about how often you wax, as your mobile home will experience more wear and tear. If it stays covered, you can go longer between waxes.
What’s the best way to clean the outside of a camper trailer?
Thankfully, all of the products we’ve looked at are wash and wax versions, so you don’t have to spend all day cleaning your rig. That being said, here are some tips to make the wax last longer and to save you some headaches throughout the process.
Begin With the Roof - if you do the sides first, you’ll have dirty roof water dripping down and ruining your hard work.
Dry Your RV Thoroughly - it’s tempting to let it air dry, but that’s how you get spots and soap residue. Instead, use a chamois or towel to dry the surfaces evenly.
Buffer if Possible - most of the products we’ve looked at don’t require a buffer, but you get a smoother surface if you use one. Wiping by hand will take too long, and it’ll be much more exhausting as well.
Don’t Forget the Tires - your tires take more abuse than the rest of your RV, so protect them as well with tire cleaners and protectants.
Work in the Morning or Evening - unless you have a large enough cover for your RV, stick to the cooler parts of the day.
What is the best way to apply an RV wax?
As we mentioned in the last question, we highly recommend investing in a power buffer. Your RV is too large to cover the whole vehicle by hand (trust us). Even if your product says that buffing isn’t necessary, we find that you get longer-lasting protection with a buffer.
How do I protect my RV?
The best way to protect your RV is to wash and wax it regularly. Again, it depends on how often you’re driving. If you only go out for a few weeks out of the year, waxing doesn’t have to be as frequent.
Another thing to remember is to cover your RV when it’s not in use. Chances are that you don’t have a garage or carport big enough to house it, but a flexible RV cover will do the trick. Letting your mobile home sit out in the elements can still weaken its materials, so plan accordingly.
Is it essential to brush your RV to remove dirt or will a power wash suffice?
Washing and spraying the surface will be good enough for most of the dirt, but you’ll still need a soft-bristle brush for any debris left over. Dirt can get stuck on the sides, as well as in the various cracks and crevices.
How much does it cost to wash and wax an RV?
It will cost between $150 – $200 and it also depends on the size of your motor home and the type of paint used on the exterior. Also, you can schedule a service, or complete the job yourself.
How do I keep my RV from fading?
To keep your RV from fading, you need to apply a coat of wax immediately after washing. This will help seal in the color and protect the paint from the sun.
CONCLUSION
When it comes to keeping your RV clean and protected, we believe that the simplest and most effective solution is the Aero Cosmetics Wash Wax. Most RVers will appreciate the speed and efficiency that this product offers, as well as the results.
Also, the fact that this wax comes with a spray bottle and towels makes it even more appealing, since you don’t have to buy additional accessories to get started.
I think Gel-Gloss RV Wash and Wax is a good clean product because it does so by performing three functions effectively – cleaning, protecting, and giving your RV its needed shine. I used it and I satisfied with it. by the way, thanks for sharing, I really like your post.
I’m pleased with this Gel-Gloss RV Wash and Wax. This product worked great without having to scrub, be it dirt, black streaks, or green algae. Simply suds on and rinse off, this product put a nice shine on my RV which had not been washed in a year, removed almost all of the bug splatter on the front and rinsed easily. I did go over some areas with the brush more than once, rinsing in between so I could see where there was still some grime, but it all came clean pretty easily.
When I got my first RV, I naturally used Meguiar’s RV washes and waxes. The first time I used it, it removed the stains Meguiar left behind and also took much less effort. It doesn’t leave a black streak or an error. As others have suggested, use hot water to mix it. That actually seems to help it work faster.
It is known to be a highly concentrated detergent that is manufactured with soap. With the composition of bar soap, I am completely assured of its biodegradable and environmentally friendly properties.
I have used “Top Coat” on all my vehicles for the past few years. Easily applied and wiped once it flashes. Clean and dry vehicle first then apply, am very happy with the rain washing the bugs for me. Took me 2 days to complete the new 5th wheel but already very Happy with my choice.
