If you want to keep your RV plumbing in good working order, you need a water pressure regulator. RV veterans know that surges in water pressure at RV parks are a common occurrence, and those surges can cause expensive damage to your plumbing.
Worse still, plumbing damage can result in the worst case scenario for any RV owner: unseen water damage and mold.
What’s the solution? A water pressure regulator for your RV. Newer RVs can handle up to 100-psi water pressure easily, but experts recommend maintaining your water pressure at 60-psi to ensure your plumbing isn’t under undue stress.
Choosing the right water pressure regulator for your RV is an important decision. To make that decision easier, check out our reviews and buyers guide to get the water pressure regulator that best meets your needs.

OUR TOP 5 PICKS
#1Renator M11-0660R

Specifications
Dimensions | 6.1x5.9x2.1-inches |
Weight | 1.45 lbs. |
Maximum Pressure Handling | 160-psi |
Features
If the solid brass construction and precision machining aren’t enough to convince you this is a high quality regulator, the fit, lifespan and function of the Renator M-11-0660R will win you over. You can install this regulator quickly without hand tools, and it will provide you with reliable service for years to come.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
More metal is always better when it comes to plumbing fixtures, and this regulator is as metal as they come. Brass is always the best choice because of its corrosion resistance and machining retention. Brass threads don’t strip unless exposed to extreme force, and the M-11-0660R can stand up to any water pressure surge.
#2 Valterra Water Regulator
Specifications
Dimensions | 4x1x5-inches |
Weight | 1.1 lbs. |
Maximum Pressure Handling | 160-psi, not recommended for use above 60-psi. |
Features
A mid-tier choice that offers plenty of value, the Valterra is manufactured using lead-free brass and has an easily adjustable pressure knob. Install it between your RV and the water source, and you’re ready to go.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
As I’ve mentioned before, brass makes for great plumbing fixtures. I also like that this model has an inlet filter to prevent debris from getting into the regulator valve and causing damage.
#3 Camco 40058 Adjustable Brass Water Pressure Regulator
Specifications
Dimensions | 10x10x10-inches |
Weight | 7-oz |
Maximum Pressure Handling | 160-psi, not recommended for use above 60-psi. |
Features
Camco builds excellent hoses, but I’m not exactly thrilled about this pressure regulator. It is functional and appears sturdily built, but the plug and gauge look and feel cheap compared to other regulators in its class.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
The fittings are machined brass, which is the best choice for preventing leaks and corrosion. It’s also got an easy to read gauge and pressure setting indicator.
#4 Trumeters Water Pressure Regulator Model A01-1117tm
Specifications
Dimensions | 6x2x5-inches |
Weight | 12.8-oz. |
Maximum Pressure Handling | 160-psi, not recommended for use above 60-psi.
|
Features
Trumeters manufactures some excellent products that offer more features than more expensive models. The A01-1117 is a well-built and designed pressure regulator for your RV that won’t break your budget, and it’s got excellent safe drinking water certifications. It’s a sound choice if you want to buy something a little better than mid-tier quality without paying a high end price.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
Solid machined brass fittings and construction are both big points in this regulator's favor. Additionally, adding the glycerine bubble in the gauge helps prevent damage that gives inaccurate readings.
#5 Kozyvacu RVAQUA M11-45PSI Water Pressure Regulator
Specifications
Dimensions | 6x6x2-inches |
Weight | 1.49 lbs. |
Maximum Pressure Handling | 160-psi, not recommended for use above 60-psi
|
Features
A solid offering from Kozyvacu, this pressure regulator comes ready out of the box to protect your RV’s plumbing. It’s got an excellent track record for reliability, and it offers some of the best value in its class.
- WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
- PROS/CONS OVERVIEW
I love the solid brass construction and stainless steel combination. It’s also heavier and larger than most of the other regulators we’ve reviewed, which indicates there’s more metal used in the internal components. All excellent characteristics for a water pressure regulator.
BUYER'S GUIDE
What are the best RV water pressure regulator brands?
Renator and Trumeter are probably the best known, but Camco and Kozyvacu both have excellent reputations as well.
How do I use the water pressure regulator for my RV?
You need to use a short hose to connect it to your RV’s clean water intake, then connect the host from the water source to the intake port on the regulator.
How do I adjust my RV’s water pressure using the regulator?
Most RV water pressure regulators have an adjustment knob on the top with preset pressures. Loosen the screw and twist the knob to the desired pressure. Do not exceed 60-psi.
How difficult is it to install a water pressure regulator for my RV?
There is a process you need to follow to install the regulator correctly without damaging your RV’s plumbing:
-Begin by connecting the water source to the regulator intake.
-Connect the shorter hose that will connect to your RV to the regulator output. Do not connect this hose to your RV at this time.
-Turn on the water source to flush any air out of the regulator and hose. Turn off the water supply.
-Connect the output hose from the regulator to your RV clean water intake, then turn the water supply back on.
-Turn on all RV water fixtures (including flush toilets) to flush any air out of the RV’s plumbing. Turn fixtures off before proceeding to the next step.
-Adjust the regulator with the regulator screw to the desired pressure. The preset is usually 45, but it should be set under 60.
Once the regulator gauge reads the desired pressure, you’re good to go.
What does the PSI reading on an RV water pressure regulator mean?
It represents the pound-force per square inch (psi) of water pressure currently flowing through the regulator. Ideally, your water pressure should not exceed 60 psi to prevent damage to your RVs plumbing.
CONCLUSION
Of these five regulators, the Renator M11-0660R is my first choice. It’s got the best construction materials, excellent drinking water safety certifications and an exceptional track record for both reliability and quality. You need a pressure regulator to protect your RVs plumbing, and the Renator M11-0660R is going to last the longest and give you the best value for your money.
I read a review about Renator M11-0660R in some articles and it sounded good so I decided to buy it. I used it for about 6 months and I was pretty satisfied with it. However, a few days ago, it then started leaking between the brass body and the pressure regulating screw housing. The pressure regulating screw will now not lower the pressure.
I read many reviews about some types of water pressure regulators but almost them often easy to got a break or leaked. I am not sure what is the best and last longer. I hope you can recommend some good things for me.
